  • Surfaces must be free of any debris, dirt, dust, laitance, grease, oil and moisture
  • Strip and completely remove existing roofing materials
  • Clean roof surface of all loose unbonded materials and debris
  • If residual asphalt is present on the deck surface a field pull test must be performed to verify the suitability of the substrate. Contact the adhesive manufacturer 14 days in advance to schedule test
  • The upper flange of steel deck must be clean and free of any debris, dirt, dust, laitance, grease, oil and moisture
  • Remove any residual shop oil coatings with a suitable cleaner
  • No moisture may be present in the lower flange of the deck

  • Remove any residual shop oil coatings with a suitable cleaner

Installation:

  • Insulation boards shall be no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet (1 m by 1 m)
  • For multiple layer applications, stagger joints in subsequent layers to eliminate thermal breaks
  • Do not leave installed insulation exposed to weather. Cover and waterproof immediately after installation
  • Seal exposed insulation edges at the end of each day. Remove insulation edge seal when work resumes
  • Remove installed insulation that has become wet or damaged and replace with new solid and dry insulation material
  • Apply adhesive directly to approved substrate using continuous ribbons 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches (64 to 89 mm) wide by 1 to 1-1/2 inches (25 to 38 mm) high, placed a maximum of 12 inches (305 mm) O.C. Application rate can va and an increased amount of adhesive may be required at the perimeter of the roof depending on building and parapet wall heights
  • Place insulation boards onto adhesive beads within 5 minutes of application and walk-in immediately to spread beads for maximum contact
  • Time required is normally 4 to 5 minutes at 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) but will depend on the ambient temperature at the time of application
Roof Penetrations and Drains
  • Apply additional adhesive at all roof drains ant around all roof penetrations
  • Apply adhesive uniformly and parallel around all openings
  • Place insulation boards onto adhesive beads within 5 minutes of application and walk-in immediately to spread beads for maximum contact
  • Time required is normally 4 to 5 minutes at 80 degrees F (27 degrees C) but will depend on the ambient temperatureat the time of application
  • With the edge of the insulation centered over the upper flange of the metal deck, apply a bead of adhesive for the full length of the insulation board using continuous bead 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches (64 to 89 mm) wide by 1 to 1/2 inches (25 to 38 mm) high. Continue to apply adhesive to every other upper flange of the deck at the same minimal rate to achieve a nominal 12 inch (305 mm) O.C.spacing of the adhesive ribbons and as required by the performance requirements specified
  • Place insulation boards onto adhesive beads within 5 minutes of application and walk-in immediately to spread beads for maximum contact
  • Time required will depend on the ambient temperature at the time of application
